Defrenne Mill
The village water mills have disappeared and the other windmills have been closed down or reconverted, so the only one still existing is the Defrenne Mill. Built in 1830, this circular and sloping whitewashed brick windmill still belongs to the Defrenne family. Listed as a monument on 17 October 1962 and restored in 1990 thanks to a sizeable grant from the public authorities, this windmill has retained its original character. The mill is still operating, while the miller plays host to visitors. The wheat is ground on two natural stone millstones powered by electricity or by wind when the weather permits. A treat for lovers of wholemeal bread.
