Long Pont ponds
A small tributary of the River Orneau the Ghète finds its source in the northern part of the Grand-Leez wood. It runs through land that has always been very marshy. In a spot called "Le Long Pont", several ponds which were dug in the 1960s are used for fish farming and hunting. On a regional level, the ponds are highly significant for aquatic and palistrine avifaunea, such as the common pochard and tufted duck, representing one of the key breeding sites. Kingfishers are frequently sighted and breed in certain years. The site is also a refuge for entomofauna, in particular dragonflies (over 20 species recorded).
