1. Children under 12
Procedures : take along an acceptable recent photo on a white background, the child must be present.
The application should be made by the mother or father. If they are divorced, by the parent having custody of the child and with whom the child is domiciled.

2. Children aged 12 to 18
Procedures : must take along an acceptable recent photo on a white background.
Cost : €12
Waiting time : +/- 2 to 4 weeks
3. Adults and the over-18s
Procedures : must take along an acceptable recent photo on a white background.
Cost : €14.50
Waiting time :+/- 2 to 4 weeks
4. Loss or theft
Procedures : notify the policy right away if the card is stolen and the municipal administration if the card is lost. Outside opening hours, this should be reported to the round-the-clock Helpdesk service on 02/518.21.16. If the declaration is made outside Gembloux, a copy has to be provided to the population department.

N.B. : should the card be found within 7 days after the declaration, the population department should notified at once
Renewal
The government has decided that all Belgian nationals (even people over 75 years of age) should be issued with an electronic identity card by the end of 2009.
An official is sent to the homes of people who are unable to get about and can provide a medical certificate to show this. Telephone 081/62.55.50 for further details.
If you have an old identity card or if you have not yet reacted to a notification already sent you are urged to report as soon as possible to the municipal administration's identity cards department.
N.B. pursuant to the Law of 19 July 1991 on population registers and identity cards, a fine of €26 to 500 may be imposed on anyone who does not have an identity card or is found to have an invalid identity card.
